Garment Trims (Patches/Tapes/Ribs)

Garment trims are the items for completing your clothing. It means that these functional trims are necessary for a garment during the production process. They make clothing more complete. And we often sew or use velcro to attach the trims on garments. Garment trims include lining, clothing labels & tags, tape, elastic band, buttons, zipper, slider buckles, etc.


Patches:

There are 8 different types of patches, they can make clothes more fashionable and interesting. So, many clothing, bags, etc. will add patches to get more attention and brand promotion. In fact, depending on the material and workmanship, they have different functions in the non-stop field.


Woven Patches:

Woven patches are badges made of tightly woven fine threads on a fabric backing. And it has a classic look and refined detailing. And the backing options include heat seal, iron, pressure-sensitive, and Velcro. They can make custom fashion patches that require more detail.


Embroidered Patches:

The base fabrics of embroidered patches are mainly cotton, felt, twill, polyester, PU, genuine leather, etc. Besides, they have a soft surface and are the most traditional and popular patches on the market. Compared to woven patches, we make embroidered patches with thicker thread. Then, we use sewing, ironing, Velcro, etc ways to fix the items on the backings.


Leather Patches:

Custom leather patches can add a brand garment logo on them, either in genuine leather or faux PU leather, adding a touch of quality to every item. These patches can be embossed, embossed, laser engraved, UV printed, etc. to create logos.


PVC Patches:

The PVC patch is a durable and soft polyvinyl chloride patch, a rubber material that is lightweight, waterproof, and colorfast. Then, you can make 3d embossed, indented, or hollow logos, and even luminous PVC patches. Custom PVC patches are usually sewn with edges made of seam grooves for ease of sewing. Or it uses velcro fasteners to attach to a PVC patch.


Chenille Patches:

Chenille patches are patches made of a new type of fancy yarn. It is made of two strands of yarn as the core thread. And the feather yarn is sandwiched in the middle by twisting. It will be spun into brand logos or letters. Then, it is soft to the touch.


Bullion Patches:

Bullion Patches are India wire patches or metal silk patches, which are available in gold and silver. And the gold silk thread hand sewn on black felt. But the hand-stitched quality is very good. Then, they have a stylish 3D embroidery look. Often, it mostly is used in royal honor guard clothing. So, It looks very noble and elegant.


Printed Patches:

Printed Patches are screen-printed fabric patches that you can print your logo, pics with a colorful design. It is then laser cut to the desired shape and size. And the entire surface looks smooth and delicate. Then, the details can be printed.


Iron-On Patches:

What are the Iron-on patches? Iron-on patches are made of heat adhesive backing by peeling off them to be ironed on fabrics by an iron. Then, they are water-proof, durable, and have skin-good effects. Thus, they are ideal for shirts, t-shirts, jeans, trousers, uniforms, coats, trousers, bags, etc. Then, you can add a personalized brand logo on it to promote your brand image.


Garment Tapes:

Various types of garment tapes are for a variety of purposes. Twill tape works when to finish armholes, necklines, and other edges, as well as for drawstrings, and straps. Elastic tape is suitable for lingerie or dresses. Ribbon tape and embroidered tape are popular because of their decorative appearance. Webbing tape is applied to the outside of an object, such as bag straps or shoelaces.


Twill Tape:

Twill tape is a herringbone fabric tape woven in a twill pattern, which is made of nylon, cotton, wool, polyester, linen and has parallel twill weaves. Twill together with plain weave and satin weave, are the main common three textile weave types.


Elastic Tape:

Elastic tape, also known as elastic band, is widely used in clothing cuffs and waistbands, including printed and jacquard elastic bands. Firstly, its material involves polyester, yarn, spandex, cotton, nylon, latex-free, and more. Secondly, the sewing band has different weaving methods. It includes woven, braided, knitted, and embroidered.


Printed & Jacquard Tapes:

Printed and jacquard tapes are a simple yet effective way of enhancing the appearance of athleisure garments. Branded tapes on athleisure items look fantastic, it’s as simple as that. They catch the eye and grab your attention, forcing you to take a closer look at the garment and who’s made it.


Ribbon & Embroidered Tapes:

These 2 tapes are popular because of their decorative appearance. Satin tape is smooth and delicate, and it is a kind of thick and shiny fabric, but the price is relatively expensive. The high-density embroidery will not snag and last for years of hard use. They are made from a durable cotton or poly-cotton fabric backing that is resistant to shrinking and fading.


Webbing Tapes:

Webbing tape is applied to the outside of an object, such as bag straps or shoelaces.


Sustainable Tapes:

Opting for an eco-friendly alternative such as recycled polyester for tapes and organic cotton is a step towards reducing the harmful impact fashion has on the environment.


Rib Knit Fabric:

Rib knit fabrics are characterized by their distinct ribbing, which appears as vertical lines on the surface of the fabric. This fabric’s general stretchy nature makes it great to use for close-fitting garments. Rib knits are also used to create bands on garments: neckbands, cuffs, waistbands, and hems.


Types of Rib Knit Fabrics:

Ribbed knit fabrics have a distinct pattern of vertical ribs on both sides, produced by alternating knit (raised) and purl (lower) stitches. Ribs can be narrow (1×1 – or one knit stitch then one purl stitch), wide (3×3, 4 x4, etc.), or have an uneven width such as 2×3, for example.


Full Needle Rib:

All neddles on front & back bedlooks same as 1x1 but less elastic, stable, flat fabric, selvedges do not roll, often used for button bands.


1x1 Rib:

1 n.plain/1 n.reverse, elastic, double bed fabric.


2x2 Rib:

Similar to 1×1 rib knits, you’ll find 2×2 rib knits have two knit stitches followed by two purl stitches to create equally sized bumps and ridges.


2x1 Rib:

2 n.plain/2 n.reverse, which gives it a chunkier appearance than the 1×1 rib knit design.


3x3 Rib:

3 n.plain/3 n.reverse, the higher the number, the flatter(less elastic) it is.


Combination of Different Rib Stitches:

Different combinations of ribs present different elasticity, sparseness and rhythmic changes, bringing visual impact.

The splicing of rib knit fabric and other fabrics enriches the fabric texture, increases the visual impact and gives the garment a versatile style. You can incorporate rib knit fabrics into any style, and it might work wonders.
